Engine and Transmission Mounts
If you are driving in your Mercedes and you hear impact noises coming from the engine bay, if you feel excessive vibrations or your car kicks everytime you accelerate, chances are you have a bad engine or transmission mount.
The engine and transmission mounts on older Mercedes-Benz cars were made of solid rubber. The mounts are designed to keep the engine or transmission stable and prevent vibration being felt inside the car. Rubber mounts tend to fail after some time and become stiff and brittle and eventually fail.
Newer models have engine/transmission mounts that are filled with a liquid and don’t fail as easily as the rubber mounts. Failing mounts will result in vibrations, noises and ‘hard kicks.’
To avoid any of the above symptoms, come in and have your mounts examined by our trusted mechanics here at Pacific Coast Benz. The best time to have your mount’s checked is around the 7 year mark.
